[Table title]Name of monitoring programmeEnvironmental concentrations of radionuclides associated with the offshore oil and gas non-nuclear sector
[ProgrammeDescription]Description of the monitoring programme

OSPAR has agreed a coordinated reporting programme for environmental concentrations of radionuclides associated with the offshore oil and gas non-nuclear sector. Contracting Parties report national monitoring data where available for the indicator radionuclides Po210, Pb-210, Ra226 and Ra228 in seawater, fish, molluscs and seaweed. Data are reported to OSPAR annually using an agreed reporting format. Data are collected to provide information on natural concentrations of these radionuclides in the environment, but such data are not assessed against any baseline.

OSPAR AGREEMENT ON A MONITORING PROGRAMME FOR CONCENTRATIONS OF RADIOACTIVE SUBSTANCES IN THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT (2005-08, 2018 Revision)

Cf. Agreement 2005-08: Data should only be reported to OSPAR for:
Po-210, Pb-210, Ra-226 and Ra-228 for surface seawater (0.5 -4 m) and biota (fish, molluscs and seaweed)
Sampling and analysis carried out as per national monitoring programmes and requirements.

[Quality Assurance Procedures in Place]In addition to a specified method, is there any additional Quality Assurance used?National QA procedures for analysis are documented in OSPAR RSC Quality assurance for the monitoring of concentrations of radioactive substances in the marine environment (RSC 13/8/4-Rev.1)
[Quality Control]What type of Quality Control is used?Other QC - National QC through national and international validation exercises.
National QC in reporting of data through use of defined reporting format and QC before submission to RSC database by RSC task manager
