Field | Description | Validated Entry |
---|---|---|
[Table title] | Name of monitoring programme | Marine litter on beaches |
[ProgrammeDescription] | Description of the monitoring programme | OSPAR beach litter monitoring programme consists in surveying litter in 100 m stretches of coastline with set coordinates, every three months where feasible. All visible litter are identified and counted in order to provide information on the amount, composition, spatial distribution and trends of beach litter in the OSPAR area. This information is used to describe the quality status of the OSPAR area and assess good environmental status achievement. It is also used to evaluate the effects and effectiveness of measures taken at national and OSPAR level to reduce marine litter pollution at a wide scale, notably the OSPAR ML-RAP. |
